When can I apply?
You can apply for residence online for the 2012-13 academic year beginning February 1st , 2012.
Is there a deadline for applications?
We will be taking applications all through the summer, but priority will be given to students who apply by February 28th.
Do I have to pay a fee with my application?
Yes, you will be required to pay a $30 non-refundable application fee by Visa, MasterCard or American Express once you have completed your application online. Applications are not considered complete without the application fee payment.
Will I be eligible for residence next year?
You are eligible for undergraduate residence for next year if you meet the following criteria:
- You have a decision from the university that you are eligible to proceed, AND
- You enroll as a full-time student for the 2012-13 academic session in an undergraduate program(18 credits over F /W terms or 9 credits per term), AND
- You have no significant behavioral infractions reported while previously occupying the York residences, AND
- You have no outstanding debt on your student account from previous academic terms
When will I get a room offer?
Residence offers to current students will begin end of May and will be conditional upon your eligibility to proceed with your studies at York.
Can I transfer to a different residence?
Students who apply back to their current residence will have priority over students who request to transfer from a different residence, in most cases. Semi- Private rooms are very limited and requests always exceed the space available.
Will I get to choose a room preference?
You can select a room, floor/section, or suite preference on your application, however specific assignments cannot be guaranteed.
Can I have a single room?
Upper year students are automatically offered a single room but you can also request to share a double room as long as both of you are of the same gender.
Will I have to pay a room deposit?
Yes- You will be required to pay a $500 non-refundable room deposit which will be charged to your Student Account when you will accept a room offer.
Do you keep a waiting list?
Yes, we will keep a waiting list through the summer in case we get late cancellations and we will offer any space in any building as it becomes available.
Can I apply if I have never lived in residence?
Yes, you can apply to residence as long as you are a full-time undergraduate student, however returning residents will receive priority.
