THINGS YOU SHOULD BRING
Here’s a checklist of some items you should plan to pack: picture or poster hangers that don’t damage the wall or door surfaces (e.g. over-the-door hooks for your closet or sticky-tack for your walls); bathrobe and shower shoes; towels and toiletries; a laundry hamper and detergent; clothes hangers; your own bed linens; under-the-bed storage bins; alarm clock; your computer and a power bar with surge protection; headphones; health card and medications and any information that the University sent you over the summer.
THINGS YOU SHOULD NOT BRING
Do not bring any extra large pieces of furniture. Your residence room comes furnished with a single bed and mattress, dresser, desk, bookshelves and chair. Residence furnishings may not be removed from rooms and stored. Storage is only provided for empty trunks and suitcases. Don’t bring pets (including fish), large amplifiers and sub-woofers, or candles.
Do not bring cooking appliances including microwaves and toaster ovens. Cooking is not permitted in the residence rooms, unless you have been assigned a suite-style room that comes equipped with kitchen access. You can rent a compact refrigerator for your room from Coldex, and there are microwaves available in most common rooms for heating up a snack or water for your tea.
PHONE AND COMPUTER HOOK-UPS
Each room is equipped with a phone and local calling service for each student.
Each room is wired for high speed internet. All you need is your computer, a network card andcable.
INSURANCE
The University cannot take responsibility for any personal items that are lost or damaged due to theft, fire, water or any other cause, whether located in your room or any other part of the residence. We strongly recommend that you make your own arrangements for insurance coverage before moving in.
