Purpose of the Research:
(1) To examine whetherdemographic factors affect student behaviours related to lecture capture use, (2) To examine which mode(s) of
delivery of lecture capture are most useful to students.

What You Will Be Asked to Do in the Research:
Participants will be asked to complete a survey which includes questions related to their basic demographic
information and how and/or when they use lecture recordings. The survey will take approximately 30 minutes.

Risks and Discomforts:
We do not foresee any risks or discomfort from your participation in the research.

Benefits of the Research and Benefits to You:
Through the Kinesiology Undergraduate Research Experience (KURE) participant pool you will receive 1.5%
bonus marks in KINE 2049, Research Methods in Kinesiology.

Voluntary Participation:
Your participation in the study is completely voluntary and you may choose to stop participating at any time. Your
decision not to volunteer will not influence your grades in any current or future courses, the nature of the ongoing
relationship you may have with the researchers or study staff, or the nature of your relationship with York University
either now, or in the future.

Withdrawal from the Study:
You can stop participating in the study at any time, for any reason, if you so decide. If you decide to stop participating,
you will still be eligible to receive the promised pay for agreeing to be in the project. Your decision to stop
participating, or to refuse to answerparticular questions, will not affect your relationship with
the researchers, York University, or any other group associated with this project. In the event you
withdraw from the study, all associated data collected will be immediately destroyed wherever possible.

Confidentiality:
All information you supply during the research will be held in confidence and unless you specifically indicate your consent, your name
will not appear in any report or publication of the research. Data will be collected digitally and will be stored in a password-
protected file on a password-protected computer. Your data will be safely stored in a locked facility and only research staff/research
team members will have access to this information. Data will be stored on the password-protected computer for five years following
completion of the study, at which time all files will be permanently deleted. Your course instructor is in no way directly involved
with the collection or analysis of data. Confidentiality will be provided to the fullest extent possible by law.
