Hello York Students,

My name is Steven Broadley and I am the organizer for this year’s York Pride Week festivities. I am writing to tell you about the York Federation of Students contribution to the annual Toronto Pride Parade. Currently it is being planned by the York Federation of Students in conjunction with the Trans, Bisexual, Lesbian, Gay, Allies at YorkU (TBLGAY).

This event is a strong statement about the visibility of gay, lesbian, bisexual and trans-gendered individuals by helping to make what was an invisible minority blossom into a strong community filled with our community’s mothers, brothers, sisters, fathers, sons and daughters.

You are more than welcome to come and march with the York Federation of Students and TBLGAY in a stand against discrimination in all of its forms. Below you will find all the information needed in order for you to participate:

Who: anyone that wants to!
What: march in Toronto's annual Queer Pride Parade!

To all members of the York community:

The York Centre for Human Rights, SexGen York, and TBLGAY are looking for volunteers to participate in our Pride celebration for 2009. As an official sponsor of Toronto Pride, York will host a community booth as part of the downtown Pride celebrations. Our booth will be located near Church and Wellesley Streets all day on Saturday June 27, and Sunday June 28.

On campus, we will be holding York community Pride flag-raising ceremonies on Tuesday, June 23. The Keele campus ceremony will be at 11am outside Vari Hall and the Glendon campus ceremony will be at 3pm at the flagpole by York Hall.

This is a great way to show your support for campus diversity. We would like to invite all members of the York community to come to a flag raising ceremony and visit or volunteer at the downtown booth. If you are interested in volunteering or would like more information, please send an email to Aaron Doupe, Pride Coordinator at adoupe@glendon.yorku.ca.

Happy Pride!
