Universities Art Association of Canada Annual Conference November 6 - 8, 2008 ~ Toronto |
|
The Universities Art Association of Canada provides a national voice for its membership, composed of university and college faculty, independent scholars and other professionals in the fields of art, art history and visual culture. Institutions may also join. Members' views and concerns are registered and scholarship is presented through an annual conference, a regular newsletter (the journal) and a scholarly journal (RACAR - Revue d'art canadienne/Canadian Art Review). The UAAC belongs to the Humanities and Social Sciences Federation of Canada and is affiliated with the Comité international d'histoire de l'art (CIHA). The 2008 UAAC Conference is hosted by the Department of Visual Arts, York University, in partnership with other educational and arts institutions. Conference proceedings and special events will take place in a variety of venues in downtown Toronto. Hosting the UAAC at Toronto provides an opportunity to build and enhance bridges between UAAC members and the local arts community. Several conference initiatives will further this cause ,such as optional gallery and architectural walking tours for delegates led by faculty and receptions held in local arts venues. |
