The UECR advises, assists and, in some cases, produces events for both academic and administrative units. We work to ensure that each event meets its outlined strategic goals and objectives, advise on protocol and special requirements related to hosting high profile guests.

UECR is responsible for managing the President's and other University annual events.

Events Planning Information Sessions

The UECR gives information sessions on event planning. Available to York faculty, staff and graduate students and research centres, the sessions are for anyone who is engaged in planning an event, meeting or conference on campus or on behalf of the University.

Sessions include:

  • Overview of the relevant York University Policies and associated procedures, including the Temporary Use of University Space Policy.
  • Checklist of key planning considerations for hosting an event, activity or conference on campus or on behalf of the university.

Here are just a few items from the list:
  • Check dates with the Office of University Events and Community Relations
Check dates with the Office of Temporary Use of University Space
Is consultation on protocol required (e.g. for inviting the President, using the President’s        name, and inviting high profile guests to the University, etc.)?
Is there enough lead time to sufficiently plan the event?
What spaces will you need to book: indoor, outdoor?

  • Introduction to the range of services and resources that are available to assist you with planning your event(s).
  • Presentations from various campus service representatives i.e. Insurance & Risk Management, Facilities Services, Security etc.
  • Guidance in the area of protocol

Next session to be held in March 2011, RSVP will become available in February.
