Student Orientation

Orientation is geared to new students enrolled in a program affiliated with Vanier College and / or students residing in Vanier College Residence.

Orientation consists of two parts, Academic (mandatory, no charge) and Social (Frosh Week).

Academic Orientation We want you to have a smooth transition to university life and have planned this orientation to help you succeed at York. We will introduce you to the academic services, social activities, recreational activities and facilities available to you, both at Vanier and throughout the university. We want to help you make connections and ensure success.

A complimentary meal hosted by the Office of the Master, Vanier College, Vanier College Council (VCC) and Vanier College Residence will follow each orientation session and is open to all participants. Participants are responsible for parking.

Social Orientation or more commonly referred to as Frosh Week provides opportunities for incoming students to meet and socialize with other students connected to the college, residence or college-affiliated programs. Information regarding Frosh week activities and registration will be available mid summer 2009 at www.yorku.ca/vcc/.

VANIER COLLEGE ANNUAL BOOK SALE (2008)
Many thanks to all who donated books to, and volunteered for, our highly popular book sale.
Over 6,550 books found new homes resulting in over $12,000 in sales.
This year’s funds will go toward improving student space, including club space, within the College.
Funds raised in previous years’ book sales went into the Renaissance, the Michael Creal Courtyard renovations, and the Vanier College Productions Theater renovations.

The Farm Show: a collective creation
Nov 27, 2007 to Dec 1, 2007, 8pm
The Farm Show is a Canadian classic, developed by a troupe of actors from Theatre Passe Muraille who moved to Clinton, Ont., for 3 months in the early '70s to build a play from what they could see and learn through interviews, visits and improvisations.

Directed by Theresa Noon, this Vanier College Productions version of that "grass roots" play recreates the spirit of discovery with which the original was developed.The Farm Show will run for four nights: Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday & Saturday, Nov. 27, 28, 30 & Dec. 1, at 8pm, in the Fred Thury Studio Theatre, 258 Vanier College.
