Student Orientation
Welcome to Vanier College.
Orientation consists of two parts, Academic (mandatory, no charge) and Social (Frosh Week).
Academic Orientation We want you to have a smooth transition to university life and have planned this orientation to help you succeed at York. We will introduce you to your program; academic services, social / recreational activities and facilities available at Vanier and throughout the University. We want to help you make connections and ensure success.
Academic orientation is geared to your major. To register (once you've created your Passport York account), click on the appropriate link:
Location: Arrive in the Vanier College Lobby 30-45 min prior to your session to register.

Complimentary meals are hosted by the Office of the Master, Vanier College, Vanier College Council (VCC) and Vanier College Residence. Participants are responsible for parking.
Social Orientation or more commonly referred to as Frosh Week provides opportunities for incoming students to meet and socialize with other students connected to the college, residence or college-affiliated programs. Information regarding Frosh week activities and registration will be available mid summer 2013 at www.yorku.ca/vcc/.

Parent Orientation
Parents will have the opportunity to attend two complimentary Orientation Programs, the first beginning at 9:30am (see 1 below), and the second beginning at 12:30pm (see 2 below).
1. The University Parent & Family Orientation Program on Monday September 2nd, starts at 9:30 am in the Lassonde Building Lecture Hall A (building 19 on campus map). Learn how you and your son/daughter or family member can smoothly transition into university life. This comprehensive, half-day session will include a welcome from President Dr. Mamdouh Shoukri and provide relevant information about York's student services.
2. Following the central Parent Orientation, we recommend that you proceed to Vanier College room 001 (see map), at 12:30 pm for a complimentary lunch, followed by an information session and Q&A discussion. Parents will have an opportunity to meet and hear from the Vanier College Master, Residence Life Coordinator, and others who are directly connected to your sons/daughters university life. Parents will be introduced to the York University College system and all that Vanier College provides, eg. academic services, social activities, recreational activities and facilities.
