The Vice-President Academic & Provost is the principal interface between the central administration and the academic enterprise, including Senate and the Faculties, and certain academic support units, and has budgetary and administrative oversight for the academic operation of the University.

The Vice-President is assisted by the members of the Academic Division, most directly the Associate Vice-President Academic, the Associate Vice-President Academic Learning Initiatives, the Associate Vice-President Graduate Studies, the Associate Vice-President International, and the Deans, Principal of Glendon and the University Librarian in improving the environment for teaching, learning and research at the University.

The Vice-President Academic and Provost sits on the University Executive Committee, the President's Priorities Committee, Senate and many Senate Committees, in particular Senate Executive and Senate Academic Policy and Planning Committee. The Vice-President and Provost also participates in the deliberations of the Board of Governors and the Board Academic Resources Committee.
