As you decide which university you
will attend and what you will study, you may be wondering what a
major, double major or minor is. We’re here to help! A major
is a specific discipline, subject or area of study. Think about
subjects that you’re already familiar with, such as history,
mathematics, biology. They’re all possible majors at York,
along with another 100 or so! More>>

In Ontario,
most think of a college as a different type of post secondary education.
But universities also have colleges. At York, a college is a community
of students, professors and college Fellows, administrative support
staff and facilities. Your college will make university life clearer
and easier for you by helping you access campus services, social
activities and academic help related to your area of interest. All
full-time undergrads are automatically assigned to one of York's
nine colleges. More>>

The
Community
Arts Practice (CAP) certificate gets students out of the classroom
and into the community. Offered jointly by the Faculty of Environmental
Studies and the Faculty of Fine Arts, the certificate promotes community
involvement and environmentalism.
York graduates with the CAP certificate will be prepared to work in community organizations, art agencies, environmental groups, artist-run spaces and for international community development agencies.
You can take the CAP certificate as part of any four-year undergraduate degree program at York. Once enrolled in your undergraduate program, you will declare your interest in the CAP certificate during your second year.
To take the program as a direct-entry student, you need to apply to the University through the Office of Admissions and then submit an application to the certificate program through either the Faculty of Environmental Studies or the Faculty of Fine Arts. The application process will include an interview and a writing exercise.

While the Accolade Project has lots of great new facilities for
York students and the community, its halls and walls are graced
by works from contemporary artists.
One
piece, titled “Air Dog”, is a mosaic created by York
Visual Arts professor Michael Davey in collaboration with his pet
dog, Angus. Angus and Davey live on the Toronto Islands where Angus
(a 12-year-old terrier) loves to collect balls of all shapes and
sizes. Faced with an ever-growing collection of balls, Davey created
this fun mosaic/sculpture for the lobby of the new Accolade East
building.
