Canadian Studies

What makes Canadian Studies at Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies unique?

Understanding Canada - its people, cultures and institutions - is the main objective of this exciting program. By integrating courses in history, fine arts, sociology, political science and geography (along with other disciplines), you are able to focus on the cultural and social make-up of the country in an inclusive way. This enables you to gain a unique and revealing perspective of Canada, its people and its future.

In addition to a core curriculum, you choose courses from one of three specific theme areas based upon your own area of interest:

  • Canada-Time and Place investigates issues such as Canadian history and the immigrant experience;
  • Canada-Society examines various aspects of Canadian society through courses in political science, sociology and social science (among others);
  • Canada-Culture examines perspectives of Canadian culture through courses in English, fine arts and the humanities.
