Occupy between the 1 and the 99%: Power, Privilege and Poverty Nov 13, 2012, 12:45-2:15PM This workshop will revisit the Toronto Occupy movement to discuss the various facets of social polarization and its uneven relationship to class, indigeneity, race and gender. Speakers will include Ajamu Nangwaya, Grace-Edward Galabuzi, Nele Michiels and Kamplex. The event's facilitators will be Stefan Kipper and Ciann Wilson.
In 2011, various movements around the world, from Tunis to Madrid, Athens to New York highlighted the implications of social polarization for democracy and everyday life.
