About this Site

Authors

The Web Accessibility Site is a project of the Centre for the Support of Teaching, the Senate Committee on Libraries and Information Technology and the University Secretariat. The site is written and maintained by the Centre for the Support of Teaching.

Goals

This site is intended to:

  1. encourage interest in web page accessibility for students with disabilities among faculty and other community members at York;

  2. provide instruction in adding simple web accessibility features to a site; and to

  3. prepare readers to learn formal web accessibility standards when they are ready to do so.

While the site is written mainly for beginners to web page authoring, we have tried to include enough examples from HTML coding and specialized web authoring software for the site to be useful to readers of any level of web authoring experience.
