There is a lot of good content available on the publicly accessible WWW for research, but you have to be very critical when assessing it.  It can often be difficult to tell where the information came from and there is often no initial filter for quality control that subscription accessible resources frequently provides.  Of course, you should even be critical when assessing subscription accessible content.
