The cluster encompasses the study of institutions (eg. states and international organizations) as well as the discursive, material, and everyday practices of other agents.

Areas of interest include transnational relations, global governance, sovereignty, civil society and democratization, globalization, economic liberalization and the cultural politics of environment and development, and state-minority relations.
