Mitacs Globalink Research Internship: Currently in its sixth year, the Research Internship is accepting faculty applications for summer 2015. Faculty supervise international senior undergraduates who travel to Canada to undertake research projects of mutual interest. 12-week research internship in summer 2015, open to professors in all disciplines, Open to interns from Brazil, China, India, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Vietnam. Mitacs oversees matching and travel logistics and provides student funding, competitive process for interns. Submission deadline for faculty projects is June 18, 2014

Job Posting: Project Coordinator for UNESCO Chair inCommunity-based Research.The minimal requirements include a Masters degree, with a preference of full-cycle research experience, plus 5 years of experience at an advanced level with multidisciplinary research in the social sciences or another relevant research area. This position is part time for 2 years, and will be based at the School of Public Administration at the University of Victoria. Postdoctoral Fellowship “Health Risk Assessment for Chronic Disease Prevention and Management”, at York University and Manifold Data Mining Inc. Applicants should have a PhD degree and significant experience in data mining and statistics. Experience in preventive medicine and manipulating large datasets  will be an asset. Applicants should submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae along with complete contact information and some representative research papers, and arrange for two letters of recommendation to be sent directly to Dr. Aijun An at aan@cse.yorku.ca.

The York Institute of Health Research will be hosting the International Consortium on Anti-Viral (ICAV) Symposium from November 18-20, 2014. The ICAV Symposium will include sessions on the infectious disease challenges facing different regions of the globe. Among the diseases that will be examined are those caused by the: H7N9 influenza virus, MERS coronavirus, Ebola, dengue and chikungunya viruses as well as drug-resistant tuberculosis. New targets for drug development, new approaches to therapies for those infected and the health policy obstacles to implementation, will be addressed.
