Women's campus safety initiatives:
call for proposals

The Women's Safety Standing Committee of the York University Security Advisory Council invites proposals for educational projects and activities to promote the safety of women and trans people on campus.

Applications are encouraged from recognized student organizations, but applications from other non-affiliated individuals will also be considered. Wherever possible, individuals with a proposal idea should seek out a recognized student organization to sponsor their project.

Thanks-for-Giving food drive and art show
York’s Centre for Student, Community & Leadership Development (SCLD) is supporting a student-driven Thanks-for-Giving food drive and art show this week. The intention is to raise awareness about hunger both on- and off-campus through visual images while also collecting food for those in need.

Donation collection boxes have been placed throughout the Keele campus. Members of the York community are encouraged to make a donation of dried or canned food. Baby food, formula and canned, protein-rich food such as tuna are especially important. The project is a collaboration between Winters College, York Federation of Students and SCLD. All donations will be sent to the North York Harvest Food Bank and York's own "Food 4 Thought" on-campus food bank.

The drive began yesterday and runs to Friday, Oct. 14. Running in conjunction with the food drive is an art show in the Eleanor Winters Art Gallery, room 123 Winters College. The venue is a student-run gallery which is dedicated to exhibiting the works of students and student groups.
