Presidential search update
The Presidential Search Committee held its inaugural meeting on Thursday, Nov. 17, and discussed in general how the search will be conducted. The members were joined by Janet Wright, of Janet Wright and Associates, the consultants retained to assist the committee.

The search will proceed in phases:

  • wide consultation leading to the creation of a position profile which will be finalized and published in the spring;
  • recruitment of candidates; and,
  • evaluation of candidates and decision.

The next meeting will be scheduled for early in the new year, at which time the committee will map out the consultation process. Details of the timetable for the consultation phase and the opportunities for community members to participate will be widely publicized when they have been determined.

Regular updates will appear on the Presidential Search Web site.

York is U charity drive continues
York is U, the student alumni program of York University, is holding a charity drive during the month of November. This year, donations are being accepted for distribution to charities and organizations operating within the Jane-Finch community. Donations of non-perishable food items, clothing, toys or even spare change, will be sent to the charities. Donation collection boxes will be placed at various locations across the Keele campus, or members of the York community interesting in donating to the drive can visit York is U in room 326, Student Centre, on the Keele campus.

For the third year in a row, York is U is teaming up with Food for Thought, the Muslim Student Association and Hillel, along with dozens of other student organizations, to collect as much as possible to help those in need.

All residences and participating student organizations will be offering donation drop boxes. Donation boxes are also available for offices, by request. York is U is encouraging the York community to get involved and encourage others to give generously. Collect as a group (office, department, centre, etc.) and the group that collects the most will win some great prizes.

For more information or to arrange for a donation box, contact Huma Qureshi, charity and entertainment director, York is U at ext. 55492 or e-mail charityd@yorku.ca.
