Parking changes for Convocation 2006

The 2006 Spring Convocation Ceremonies will take place Monday, June 12, to Friday, June 16, at the Keele campus and Saturday, June 17, at the Glendon campus. The Keele ceremonies will be held at the Atkinson-Osgoode Green. York’s Security, Parking & Transportation Services will minimize the effects to the community by relocating displaced permit holders during Convocation Week.

Convocation guests attending the ceremonies will use the following parking lots:

  • Pond Road East Outer Reserved
  • Sentinel Road East Outer Reserved
  • Atkinson

Permit holders who currently park in the Pond Road East Outer Reserved Lot will be redirected to the Student Services Parking Garage. Those who currently park in the Sentinel Road East Outer Reserved Lot will be redirected to the Arboretum Parking Garage. Permit holders can enter the garage with their current access card. Changes to your access card permitting entry to these lots during Convocation will be made internally, so there is no need to go to Parking Services. As of Monday, June 19, permit holders will return to their regular parking lot.

For more information regarding this temporary relocation, contact Waynette Huerta, senior customer service representative, Parking Services at waynette@yorku.ca or call ext. 20645.

Energy audit to find ways to save

York’s Facilities Services is implementing an Energy Performance Program (EPP). The program’s goals are to decrease the University’s energy consumption by 15 per cent as well as improve teaching, learning and working environments and advance the University’s broader environmental sustainability goals. The reduction represents sufficient energy to supply more than 4,500 homes with electricity for one year.

To identify energy saving opportunities, energy audits will be conducted on all major buildings at both the Keele and Glendon campuses.

MCW Custom Energy Solutions Ltd. in conjunction with Facilities Services has commenced the audits of the electrical systems outlined below. The work will be performed with minimal disruption.

For more information please contact John Vavra, project manager at ext. 60338 or e-mail jvavra@yorku.ca, or Steve Fraser, director, maintenance, utilities and energy at ext. 55939, or e-mail sfraser@yorku.ca.

Visit the EPP Web site for a full program description.
