Go green with york is U this week
York is U’s Green Week, a three-day exposition that starts Tuesday, is one of the largest green events at York University. It gives everyone a chance to improve the environment and find out how much fun it is to be green. York is U encourages everyone to take part in preserving and expanding green space on campus. The annual Arbour Day tree planting is back again. Two brand new additions for this year’s event are the Eco Food Fair and the Recycled Fashion Show. Get involved by tasting some eco-food, enjoying friendly recycled fashions and/or planting trees. 
Glendon celebrates its top scholars
This year’s scholarship reception at York's Glendon campus, showcased the largest number of award recipients in its history. Almost 160 people attended to celebrate more than $800,000 in scholarships and bursaries for Glendon students. 
eBayers bid on a Simpsons LA experience
Bidding on a special event, entitled Meet the Simpsons LA Studio VIP Experience with Joel Cohen, began Sept. 26 on eBay and continues until Oct. 3. Cohen, writer and co-executive producer of “The Simpsons”, is a York graduate. 
York tops national soccer rankings
For the first time in University history, the York Lions men’s soccer team has been ranked number one in in the country. The Lions (8-0-2) jumped to No. 1 from No. 2 after tying the fourth-ranked Western Mustangs, 1-1, and beating the Windsor Lancers, 4-2, in a two-game road swing. Both the men's and women's teams play at home this weekend. 
Lions win their 13th consecutive Red&Blue Bowl
The York Lions put the University of Toronto Varsity Blues on the brink of Canadian Interuniversity Sport history, by beating them for the 13th consecutive time and extending their losing streak to to 46 games – just one shy of York’s record of 47. 
Taking action to support York hockey
In Ontario, universities now have a greater capacity to provide needs-based grants, athletic awards and academic scholarships to student-athletes eligible for financial support. A growing group of individuals is taking action to raise awareness and increase private support for York’s hockey athletes. 
Faculty of Education graduate wins biotech teaching award
York alumna Dr. Danielle Gauci, a science teacher at Northern Secondary School in Toronto, is the winner of a $5,000 BIOTECanada-Biogen Idec Teaching Excellence Award. The award program is dedicated to promoting and recognizing teaching of biotechnology at the secondary school level in Canada. 
Osgoode wins Excellence Award for its Aboriginal study program
The Intensive Program in Aboriginal Lands, Resources & Governments at York University’s Osgoode Hall Law School has won a 2007 Canadian Bureau for International Education Excellence Award for "Outstanding Program" in recognition of "high quality and highly creative programming in international education."

Suffering the lunchtime blues? York’s McLaughlin College has the perfect remedy for sandwich boredom with the return of its popular series – the McLaughlin Lunch Talks. The popular series of discussions on thought-provoking subjects is conducted in a casual, open environment. 
New master's program advances disaster management
A new master's program at York University recognizes what terrorist attacks and tsunamis have demonstrated clearly: disasters are seldom simple. The Master of Arts in Disaster & Emergency Management program at York is the only program of its kind in Ontario. 
YORKwrites will celebrate York's scribes and authors
Mark your calendar for the second annual YORKwrites Celebration of York Authors hosted by York University Libraries and York University Bookstores. The reception recognizes and celebrates the publication achievements of York faculty and the York community. 
Schulich scores another
ranking success
For the sixth straight year, the Schulich School of Business at York University was ranked number one in Canada and among the top 25 MBA programs in the world by the Economist Intelligence Unit, the business research and intelligence arm of The Economist magazine.
