Whether you live in residence or you commute, York University’s Meal Plans offer you savings, convenience and flexibility.  There are a variety of meal plans that you can select based on your individual preferences and needs.  York University provides a wide range of dining options, from fresh and healthy home-style meals to franchise favourites.

How does the Meal Plan benefit me?

Savings
You can save on banking fees by using your YU-card instead of your debit card.  You are also exempt from sales tax (HST) on meal purchases with most plans.

Convenience
You can carry your YU-card instead of cash and buy meals or snacks whenever you like at restaurants across the Keele and Glendon campuses.  You can also manage your account online.

Flexible Options
Our Meal Plans offer flexible options to suit your personal preferences and lifestyle.  There is also flexibility in menu selection and eating times that allow you to eat where you want, when you want.

Meal Plan Tax Exemptions

In order to not be charged sales tax when you purchase your meal, you must have a valid tax exemption sticker on your YU-card for the current year.  The sticker can be obtained from the YU-card Office.  Purchases made without the sticker will be subject to applicable taxes and cannot be refunded.

Meal Plan Expiry

Your Meal Plan account balance must be fully used by April 21, 2012.  Unused Meal Plan account balances expire after that date and are non-refundable and non-transferable.  Plus and Flex account balances do not expire.

Meal Plan Refunds

Meal Plans are non-refundable. A Meal Plan may be cancelled only if you elect to move out of residence. Your Meal Plan account refund will be the lesser of the remaining balance in the account or the prorated amount indicated in the table below, based on the time you were assigned a residence room or the last date you wish to use the Meal Plan.  All refunds are subject to a $50 administration fee.
