What is the YU-card?
The YU-card is York University’s official photo ID and debit card for all students. While studying at York, the YU-card will be your son’s or daughter’s key to important services such as the Library, meal plans, printing and photocopying, and much more.

Why should I add money to the card?
The YU-card makes it easy for you to provide funds specific to your son’s or daughter’s needs while at York. The card can only be used to make purchases on campus, and alcohol, tobacco and lottery tickets are prohibited from being purchased with the card. There are no fees associated with using the YU-card, making it an easy, safe and cost-effective method of providing your student with funds for food and other necessities.

The YU-card is also safe. If the card is lost or stolen, your money can still be protected once the card is deactivated. Students can deactivate their cards either online through the Online YU-card Office 24/7, or by contacting the YU-card Office during business hours.

The YU-card is accepted at locations across campus and the program continues to expand.  A list of locations currently accepting the YU-card is available here.

How can I add money to the YU-card?
Family and friends can add funds to a student's YU-card quickly and easily by using our online deposit system with a Visa or Mastercard.  You will need your son’s or daughter’s student number to use the online deposit system.  Deposits may also be made in person at the YU-card Office using credit card, debit card, cash or cheque.
