Managing Emotions Group: workshop
Oct 26, 2011, 10am-11:30am
Would you like to learn strategies to help shift your mood? Would you like to change negative and self-defeating thought patterns? This series will examine how thoughts and actions can impact emotions. The focus will be on helping participants to better manage their mood and improve their sense of well-being by replacing unhealthy patterns of thinking and self defeating behaviours with healthier alternatives.
Using simple Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) principles and techniques we will examine how thoughts and actions can impact emotions. Participants will find a safe environment in which to explore the potential of new ways of thinking and behaving and be encouraged to experiment with these ideas outside of the group. This is a four-part series, (the group will meet on Oct. 26, Nov. 2, Nov. 9 and Nov. 16).
We ask that participants attend all sessions. The series is free and open to all York students. Students interested in being part of this group can register at Counselling & Disability Services, N110 Bennett Centre.
