Goldfarb Summer Institute in Visual Arts: Amelia Jones - 'Queer Feminist Durationality'

Amelia Jones presents a talk titled "Queer Feminist Durationality: The Trace of the Subject in Contemporary Art" for The Real and the Political, the fourth annual Joan & Martin Goldfarb Summer Institute in Visual Arts.
Jones is professor and Grierson Chair in Visual Culture at McGill University, Montreal. She has organized exhibitions and written widely on contemporary art and on feminist, queer and anti-racist approaches to visual culture.
Jones' recent publications include major essays on Marina Abramović, feminist art and curating, and performance art histories, as well as the edited volumes Feminism and Visual Culture Reader (2003, 2010) and A Companion to Contemporary Art Since 1945 (2006). Her single-authored books include Body Art/Performing the Subject (1998),Irrational Modernism: A Neurasthenic History of New York Dada (2004) and Self Image: Technology, Representation and the Contemporary Subject (2006). Current projects are Perform, Repeat, Record: Live Art in History, a volume co-edited with Adrian Heathfield (Intellect Press, 2012) and a book titled Seeing Differently: A History and Theory of Identification in the Visual Arts, slated for release later this year.

The Joan & Martin Goldfarb Summer Institute in Visual Arts offers York University graduate students and the wider community the opportunity to engage with prominent international artists, curators, critics and theorists through seminars, workshops, courses and public lectures.
