MFA Thesis Exhibition: Matthew Gardiner - "Repose"

Matthew Gardiner paints on canvas. His work explores questions concerning contemporary ideas of leisure that are embedded in modernized lifestyles and propelled by media technologies. Utilizing visual signifiers of time and space, and within a layering of various visual media and appropriation of the reclining figure general from art history, his painting reflects upon issues of labour, leisure and illusion.
