Pushing Forward: Community Engagement as Social Action

"Gravy trains", service "efficiencies", transit-fare hikes, social housing sell-offs, user fees and cutbacks to municipal services, increased class sizes and student debt.
On April 20th, youth organizers, labour leaders, community activists and academics will join at York University for a one-day forum to reflect on the impact of the slash-and-burn budgetary policies on community resources, and devise ways of "pushing forward".
Confirmed panel speakers include: Maria Augimeri, City of Toronto councillor, York Centre; Andria Babbington, vice-president, Toronto & York Region Labour Council; Uzma Shakir (director, Equity, Diversity & Human Rights, City of Toronto), Pam Frache (education director, Ontario Federation of Labour) and other community leaders.
