FASI Boot Camp: Line and Form - Investigating Sculptural Drawing

This intensive is designed for high school art students who are considering or are proceeding to post-secondary education in a studio-based visual arts program. It provides the opportunity develop a portfolio and expand your technical and conceptual understanding of contemporary drawing and sculpture, working in a professionally-equipped studio environment.
The link between sculpture and drawing is longstanding. This workshops moves between the two practices to create a seamless understanding of form in both 2D and 3D. Working from the fundamental building blocks of form - point, line, plane and mass - participants engage in a number of short and longer term projects to ddevelop a deeper understanding of these concepts.
This boot camp is taught by sculptor, painter, installation artist and educator P. Roch Smith. Smith has exhibited his work in solo shows in Toronto, Vancouver, Los Angeles, Calgary, Edmonton, Peterborough, Victoria, Kelowna and Courtenay, B.C. and in many group exhibitions.

Fine Arts Summer Intensive (FASI) is a series of creative experiential workshops for high school and university students, emerging professionals and educators, offered by the Faculty of Fine Arts at York University. From two-day training sessions to three-week boot camps, FASI offers intensive experiences in dance, design, film, music, theatre and visual arts designed to whip you into creative shape!
