FASI World Percussion Master's Concert

The FASI Percussion Intensive comes to a thundering crescendo with the World Percussion Master's Concert with intensive leader Salvador Ferreras with special guests Professor Trichy Sankaran and faculty member Rick Lazar.
Ferreras has toured on four continents. Former principal percussionist of the CBC Radio Orchestra, his solo and collaborative work is heard regularly on national radio. He has released three solo recordings: To Drive in L.A. (1986), Invisible Minority (1994) and Woodcuts (2001), and a trio recording with his ensemble Safa (2002). He was inducted into the British Columbia Entertainment Hall of Fame in 2003 and two years later was awarded the Willan Prize for outstanding contributions to choral music in BC.
A dedicated music educator and producer as well as performer, Ferreras is dean of the Vancouver Community College School of Music and artistic director of the Literary Cabaret at the Vancouver International Writers Festival. He has a PhD in Ethnomusicology from the University of British Columbia.

Fine Arts Summer Intensive (FASI) is a series of creative experiential workshops for high school and university students, emerging professionals and educators, offered by the Faculty of Fine Arts at York University. From two-day training sessions to three-week boot camps, FASI offers intensive experiences in dance, design, film, music, theatre and visual arts designed to whip you into creative shape!
