Employee Assistance Program (EAP): Utilizing the EAP as a Resource for Mental Health

Mental illness is more common than we think. According to Health Canada, one in five Canadians will experience some form of mental health trouble in their lifetime, yet only six per cent actually seek or receive treatment. The stigma and denial surrounding mental health issues can be the biggest obstacles for those experiencing mental health challenges, which can often mean that those dealing with mental health issues are not getting the proper support or help they need. Because no one is immune to mental illness, we want you to have the support and be equipped with resources when dealing with mental health issues from work associates and others. The EAP is one resource for assisting people with this. This presentation will highlight ways in which the EAP can be a useful resource to people leaders and employees as well as individuals experiencing a mental health challenge.
