Norman Jewison Series: "Sink or Swim" - Filmmaker Su Friedrich in person

Internationally acclaimed feminist filmmaker Su Friedrich presents her classic experimental autobiographical film, Sink or Swim (1990, 48m) in 16mm film and her digital video, Seeing Red (2005, 27m), discussing the relationships between radical form, politics and the personal tradition in experimental media.
Friedrich teaches film and digital production at Princeton University. The recipient of Rockefeller and Guggenheim Foundation Fellowships, she has won many awards for her work. She has had retrospectives at numerous film festivals and prestigious venues such the Museum of Modern Art, Whitney Museum of American Art and Anthology Film Archives, NYC; Stadtkino, Vienna; and National Film Theatre, London/UK.
The Norman Jewison Series in York University's Department of Film is sponsored by the Norman and Margaret Jewison Charitable Foundation. The series features a wide variety of guests, including noted Canadian and international filmmakers, writers, film historians and theorists.
