Exhibition: Tina Azari's "The Girl"
Oct 8, 2012 to Oct 12, 2012
Third-year visual arts student Tina Azari presents The Girl, a series of black and white photographs exploring ideas of female individuality in different cultures
The artist enhances the photos with Persian writing to explore the female body in a more traditional point of view. Thematically her text addresses one’s body becoming a part of one’s own individuality.
In the recent years Azari’s artistic focus has been on gender and society. The artist perceive sgender as a structure of social classification which is mainly based on the physical appearance. Her project The Girl determines the category of external identity, based on her experience toward self- identity.
