'Value for Many in the Commonwealth' - John Wilkins
Nov 28, 2012, 12pm-1:30pm
John Wilkins is a former Commonwealth diplomat who will offer an insider’s view of international public sector development. The presentation will explore how the Commonwealth promotes ‘value for many’ by harnessing its: • convening power, to engage member participation; • consensus building, to set development priorities; • collaborative leadership, to institutionalize change. The Commonwealth of Nations is a diverse group of 54 member countries representing 31 per cent of the world’s population. While it has comparatively effective governance and leadership, the Commonwealth also has 63 per cent of the world’s poor and serious development deficits in health, education, gender equity, youth employment and human rights.
