Wen-Do Women's Self Defence
Jan 16, 2014 to Feb 13, 2014
Wen-Do is fun and empowering program that teaches simple yet effective self-defense techniques. The course explores verbal and physical self-defense that is accessible to all participants regardless of age, shape, size and (dis)ability. All courses are taught by women for women and are free of charge.
Physical techniques are designed to be effective against larger, physically stronger attackers. They include blocks, strikes, releases from holds (arm holds, body holds, chokes, hair grabs and being pinned to the ground), defences against weapons and defences against more than one attacker. Verbal self-defence strategies examined in the class include calming, reasoning, negotiating, distracting, surprising or confronting an attacker, depending on the situation.
