'Telling Tales Out of School': Original Theatrical Monologues
Jan 12, 2014, 2pm-3:30pm
Third- and fourth-year student playwrights and dramaturgs in Professor Judith Rudakoff's Playwriting and New Play Dramaturgy courses present original "monodramas" inspired by members of Toronto's theatre community.
Through research, personal interviews and observation, the playwrights generate characters and situations that draw on the essence of their interviewee – often with surprising results!
Theatre community members who inspired the monodramas include York University Department of Theatre Professors Marlis Schweitzer and Rob Fothergill, staff member Mary Pecchia and others, plus Toronto artists d'bi young anitaafrika, Paul Thompson, Joseph Jomo Pierre, David Yee and more.
Admission is pay-what-you-can. Proceeds go to Oxfam. The fundraising goal for this event is to buy at least one village a goat and purchase several agricultural packages, as well as other useful and sustainable gifts.
All are welcome. | Map & directions
