Assessing the Impacts on Environmental Governance
Dec 3, 2013, 1:30pm-2:30pm
Lecture by Kyra Bell-Pasht, Osgoode Hall Law School LLM candidate and former counsel to the Canadian Environmental Law Association.
In October 2013, the Canadian federal government announced that it had reached an agreement in principle with the European Union for a Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement. The potential economic and social impacts of the agreement have been the subject of concern and intense controversy on both sides of the Atlantic since negotiations began several years ago. As a lawyer with the Canadian Environmental Law Association, Bell-Pasht wrote various reports and submissions on the environmental impacts of the Canada-EU and Canada-China trade and investment agreements. She is now completing her LLM degree at Osgoode Hall Law School with a focus on the impacts of international investment agreements on government's capacity to regulate in the public interest.
