EE@York 2-Day Course (May 2 & June 12)
May 2, 2014 to Jun 12, 2014
The EE courses are designed to support faculty who wish to incorporate "In-Course" or "Within-Community" Experiential Education into their teaching. In addition to the Boot camp and 2-session course, there will be an optional follow-up for participants to go into further development of in-course and/or in-community plans.
The face to face sessions include seminars with peers and hands-on activities. Between sessions there will be activities and tasks to complete.
In both formats, participants will have the opportunity to meet and work with EE Coordinators who can provide practical support and work with participants in terms of developing community contacts and managing relationships. Participants will create a course template that includes EE components; gain understanding of the theoretical framework for experiential learning; consider how to evaluate students experiential learning; and design teaching and assessment activities and tasks.
EE@York 2-day course. This course is offered over 2 sessions with tasks to compete between sessions. A follow up session will be arranged if participants wish.
Participation in a university wide symposium (the York University 'Teaching in Focus' conference, May 22nd, 2014) to share learning and best practice with the wider university community will be encouraged.
