The Dialectic of Self and the Other in Kierkegaard's Threefold Sphere of Existence
Mar 12, 2014, 2pm-5pm
This lecture by Professor Leo Stan, humanities, Faculty of LA&PS, will try to offer a typological analysis of the self-other relationship in the overall thought of Søren Kierkegaard. After a detailed description of the aesthetic and ethical modes of existence, brief references will be made to Kierkegaard’s understanding of religion and the way it shaped his multilayered critique of the modern way of life. Thus, the lecture will address topics relevant to continental philosophy, existentialism, philosophical psychology and religious thought.
