Women in the Niqab Speak: A Study of the Niqab in Canada

This study, from the Canadian Council of Muslim Women, is the first to give a voice to Muslim women in Canada who wear the niqab. Conducted by Lynda Clarke and funded by the Ontario Trillium Foundation, the results are based on 129 responses to a survey, focus groups and personal interviews with women who wear the niqab.
Speakers will include: Alia Hogben, executive director of Canadian Council of Muslim Women; and
Lynda Clarke, associate professor of religion and Islam, Concordia University.
With discussants: Hulya Arik, PhD candidate in the Department of Geography, York University; and Roshan A. Jahangeer, PhD candidate in the Department of Political Science, York University.
