Bank of Canada Deputy Governor Timothy Lane
Mar 24, 2014, 12:20pm-1:30pm
The Osgoode Distinguished Speakers Series Organizing Committee (DSSOC), the JD/MBA Students’ Association and the Hennick Centre for Business and Law are pleased to welcome Bank of Canada Deputy Governor Timothy Lane to York University.
Lane is one of Canada’s foremost experts on monetary policy and financial system stability. He joined the Bank of Canada in 2008 after spending 20 years at the International Monetary Fund and several years as an economics professor.
In his address, “Building Trust in the Financial System”, Lane will highlight the importance of good governance in the financial system and the economy more generally. He will focus, in particular, on how confidence in financial benchmarks such as LIBOR has recently been undermined, why that matters, and what is being done to restore it. A short Q&A session will follow his speech.
