Symposium - Supporting Student Mobility & Transfer

A half-day symposium/professional development opportunity aimed at fostering a culture of transfer among student services personnel across Seneca College and York University. The event will feature Dr. Stephen J. Handel from the University of California System and author of Under Match and the Community College Student; Remediating Remediation (with Ronald Williams); Strengthening the Nation By Narrowing the Gap (with James Montoya); and Second Chance, Not Second Class: A Blueprint for Community College Transfer.
Following the keynote, we will have a panel of Ontario discussants, including: Dr. Alice Pitt, vice-provost academic, York University; Dr. Henry Decock, associate vice-president, Academic Partnership, Seneca College; Dr. Leesa Wheelahan, University of Toronto, Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE); and a representative from the Ministry of Advanced Education & Skills Development, Ontario. The focus of the panel is “Creating a student-centred approach to transfer within institutions; an Ontario perspective.”
We will also have information on display from our joint/collaborative York/Seneca programs.
