    “To mine the memory of my phone for all its value”

    Kevin Kelly posted another great thing on his Cool Tools blog: Phone Mining, which pulls a few quotes from the blog of world traveller Jan Chipchase, including Expectations Out of Synch. He meets some monks in Mongolia:

    They invite me into the warmth for a reason – to mine the memory of my phone of all its value. Half a dozen files transferred from my device – particularly interested in obtaining photos of women from Japan.

    Digital music and pictures and software as currency, gifts, and trade goods. Chipchase brings in data from the outside and in return receives real physical things, like heat and food and friendship.
