Information Session, 258 Petrie

The Office of Research Administration (ORA) is coordinating an NSERC information session led by Professor Brock Fenton of the Biology Department (Faculty of Pure and Applied Science) and the associate vice-president (Research). The session will cover a variety of topics including a discussion of strategies for a successful application. Therefore it will be of interest to all applicants, including first-time applicants who may not be familiar with NSERC, as well as re-applicants with on-going awards who are now re-applying for continuous funding. This will be an interactive session with opportunity for questions and answers. Please confirm your attendance by contacting ORA at -55055 (research@yorku.ca).

Deadline: August 15 to submit 'advance material' for NSERC research grants.


Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada

Going Global


AUCC's Going Global program supports the travel costs of Canadian researchers going to Europe or their counterparts coming to Canada to initiate new joint research and technology ventures. These projects are expected to contribute to Canada's industrial or economic advancement in science and technology. AUCC will fund up to $5000, and the Canadian university must match the contribution in funds by at least one third of the total cost.

Deadline: June 15.


NSERC

Collaborative Health Research Projects


Funds are available to encourage university researchers in the natural sciences and engineering to focus on research which will lead to health benefits, translate the results of their research into improved health for Canadians, and increase the ability of the NSERC community to integrate into the future activities of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research.

Deadline: July 1.

Workshop/Networking Program


Up to $30,000 is available to help the research community to plan collaborative research projects which will be submitted to the Canadian Institute of Health Research and health-related programs of the granting councils through: developing and strengthening research contacts, networks and groups on a specific health research theme; exhcanges of knowledge, insights and approaches among researchers, practitioners, and users; and testing innovative ideas and approaches for tackling medium to long-term issues in health research; and in areas which require the collaboration of disciplines or faculties traditionally supported by at least two of the three granting councils.
