Canadian Foundation for Climate and Atmospheric Science (CFCAS)

Call for Proposals

The CFCAS funds research in the areas of: (i) climate system science and climate change, (ii) extreme weather, (iii) air quality, and (iv) marine environmental predictions. CFCAS objectives are to strengthen Canada's scientific capacity, improve scientific understanding of processes and prediction capabilities, provide relevant science to policy makers, improve understanding of the implications of these sciences for human health and for the natural environment, foster collaboration and interdisciplinary approaches, and encourage participation and support of others. Proposals are funded up to $200,000/year for up to three years.

NSERC

Greenhouse Gas Mitigation (GHGM)

NSERC has launched, in conjunction with Natural Resources Canada's Energy Sector, "Novel Next Generation Technology Initiative in Energy Research and Technology to Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Mitigation or GHGM". Grants are to support early stage, exploratory research which could possibly lead to new energy technologies for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in the medium to long term. Up to $100,000/year is available for up to three years.

Onassis (Alexander S.) Public Benefit Foundation

Foreigners' Fellowships Program

This program offers research grants to non-Greek to disseminate the Hellenic language, culture and history abroad. Applicants' work should be widely known and related to Greek letters, and who wish to visit Greece for up to six months in order to meet and collaborate with their Greek colleagues in higher education or scientific institutions and organizations, and to give lectures in Greek universities. The grant consists of a roundtrip air ticket to Greece, accommodation, and #1.050-#1.500 Euro.

Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR)

ORA would like to remind health researchers, who are considering submitting a proposal for a CIHR equipment, operating or maintenance grant, that they must register their intent to apply one month prior to the March 1 deadline (i.e. Feb. 1).

McLean Foundation

Grants

The McLean Foundation offers grants ranging from $500 to $25,000 to support projects showing a general social benefit but which may initially lack broad public appeal.

The Office of Research Administration (ORA) would like to remind faculty members of these research opportunities with upcoming deadlines. Deadlines listed are those of the granting agencies. Applications for external sources of funding (i.e., outside York) must be submitted to ORA before forwarding them to the agencies. To assist in meeting these deadlines, it is recommended that applications be submitted to ORA one to two weeks prior to the deadline dates.
