>    York grad and boxer Mark Simmons ['00] isn't the only York Olympic hopeful going to the Sydney Olympics. Other contenders include Kinesiology students Karen Cockburn and Mathieu Turgeon for trampoline. At press-time alumnae hoping to qualify at the August trials included Rebecca Chambers [BSc'93, MSc'95], pole vault, and triple jumper Jennifer Williamson [BA'96,BEd'97].

>    Cecilia Moen's [BSc'87] has won the U.S. government's highest award for young scientists. She was one of 60 young researchers honoured at the White House. Moen's developmental biology research may further our understanding of cancer genetics. (Toronto Star)
