A NEW TEAM NAME FOR YORK

YORK UNIVERSITY is contemplating a new nickname to be used by its sports teams and in other programs. Yeomen and Yeowomen have served us well, and will forever hold a place of pride in the hearts of those who have played under these names. But the use of two nicknames, both gender specific, can present challenges and limitations. To market sport and other programs effectively the University is seeking a gender-neutral nickname to which all students can relate and feel an affinity.
