The York University Vancouver Alumni Branch's event on November 27, 1997 at the Shark Club was a great success. Under the leadership of Steve Clarke (BA '95) and with the assistance of Francine Drouin (BA '80) alumni heard about new developments at York from Charles Kennedy, Director of Alumni Affairs and viewed the University's latest recruitment video. Steve Clarke spoke about the further development of the Vancouver Branch and its activities.

On Tuesday, February 24, 1998, President and Vice-Chancellor of York, Dr. Lorna R. Marsden visited with the branch and spoke on "York's Growing Internationalism." The event, which took place at the Arts Club Theatre on Johnston Street, centred on how York (and its alumni) are making their mark internationally.

SINGAPORE

Alumni, applicants and parents gathered for afternoon tea on Saturday, February 7 at the National University of Singapore's Graduate Society, Orchard Guild House. Serene See-Tow (BA '94) arranged the event along with the featured guest, York History professor Gerald Jordan.

Jordan, in addition to teaching, is a Faculty Advisor in the East Asian Studies Program, and to the Malaysian/
Singaporean Students Association at York University. He was a visiting professor at the National University of Singapore (1989-90), and a fellow of the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies in Singapore (1991-92), where he will again be a fellow during 1998-99.
He is also a member of Toronto's Club Singapore.

CALGARY

Lead by Sue Contini (BA '87) and Bob Modray (BA'71, MA'73), York's Calgary alumni branch held their 5th annual Pan-Alumni Skate on February 7, hosted by the University of Calgary. Alumni enjoyed a lunch, and an afternoon of skating in the Olympic Oval with clowns, astrojumps, and a performance by the University of Calgary's Alumni Dinosaur Drill Team.

TAMPA BAY

Several York alumni participated in the All Canadian Universities Brunch on Sunday, February 22, 1998 at the Tampa Marriott Westshore. This event was hosted by Dr. Paul Davenport, President and Vice-Chancellor of The University of Western Ontario, who was guest speaker.
