Toronto's Brazilian Carnival Ball is hot, hot, hot

• Founder and President of the Ball, Anna Maria de Souza, started the Toronto tradition in 1966.
• Over the years, the Ball has supported:
  • The Ontario Heart Foundation
  • The Hospital for Sick Children
  • Sunnybrook Health Science Centre
  • Doctor's Hospital
  • University of Toronto
• Funds from the 1998 Ball are expected to be more than $1 million.
• By 1997 the Ball had raised more than $13 million.
