AT THE GALLERIES


The Art Gallery of York University will present an exhibition of paintings by Belgian artist Philippe Van Snick until Dec. 12. An exhibition of works in video by Stephanie Smith and Edward Stewart will be on display Jan. 13 to Feb. 20.

FACULTY OF FINE ARTS


The Music Department's concert line-up features: the York University Vocal and Instrumental Chamber Ensembles (Dec. 1 at 12:30 and 8 pm, and Dec. 6 at 7:30 pm); a Piano Marathon showcasing students of Antonin Kubalek and Christina Petrowska (Dec. 2 at 12:30 pm); and the Brass Choir, Percussion Ensemble and Wind Symphony (Dec. 12 at 3 pm). All performances will take place in the McLaughlin Performance Hall.

The annual end-of-term Jazz Bash, featuring the Jazz Choir and Orchestra, a Jazz Faculty Concert and Student Jazz Combos, from Nov. 30 to Dec. 2 in the McLaughlin JCR.

Theatre@York's production of "The Soldier Dreams" opens Jan. 25 and runs until Jan.29 followed by "playGround," the Theatre Department's 8th annual festival of original works-in-progress of student playwrights, directors and actors, running Feb. 7 to 12. All performances are in the Joseph G. Green Studio Theatre, CFT. Ticket information: (416) 736-5157.

Public viewing at the York Observatory continues Wednesday evenings until the end of March. New telescopes have further enhanced the viewing. Dress warmly and bring a camera.
