The 2001 Bruce Bryden ONCE AGAIN, the York University Alumni Association celebrated the contributions and success of York's graduates at the annual Bruce Bryden Alumni Recognition Awards Dinner. This year's event was held at the Arcadian Court and included awards being presented to Dr. William Dimma, Ernie Eves Q.C., Martin and Joan Goldfarb, Dr. Steve MacLean, and posthumously, the late Carol Anne Letheren, graciously received by her son Dan Letheren. The sold-out event included a multi-media presentation by internationally renowned York alumni who make up the Rhombus Media Group. Barbara Willis Sweete and Larry Weinstein of Rhombus accepted a special award presented by York Faculty of Fine Arts Dean Phillip Silver, for their commitment to quality and integrity. This year's event was generously sponsored by TD Meloche Monnex, Manulife Financial, and Carlson Wagonlit/Victor Travel. On behalf of the York University Alumni Association, thank you for your involvement and support. We look forward to seeing you at next year's event. If you would like to nominate a York alumnus for a 2002 award please contact Joanna Korach at jkorach@yorku.ca.

MEMBERS ONLY:
WHETHER YOU WANT to announce a wedding, an addition to the family, find out what's happening with the York alumni branch nearest you, need a fellow alum's e-mail address or a career networking opportunity, the job just got a whole lot easier.
It's all thanks to the new York Alumni Online Community created in partnership with Harris Internet Services and scheduled for launch this Spring. "This gives York graduates access to fellow alumni around the world," says André Beaudry, director of Alumni Affairs.
Alumni Affairs receives thousands of calls and e-mails each year from York's more than 158,000 alumni wanting to stay connected to the University and each other.
York alumni wanting to participate can simply surf to the alumni Web site at www.yorku.ca/alumni and complete the notification process through the Online Community link. Once registered, subscribers can search for their fellow alumni by name, year of graduation, or by Faculty. Essentially, this secure service allows alumni to network both personally and professionally.
Users can personalize and customize their own information depending on their networking needs and can bookmark other York members for easier access at a later date. Users will also be able to search the database, go to a "Career Centre", and create permanent e-mail forwarding addresses (so you'll never miss an e-mail again). There's even a business advertising "Yellow Pages" that will allow York graduates to promote their own business, products or services.
For your eyes only: it goes without saying that the entire service is confidential and secure to York members. See you online....
Homecoming 2001
THE YORK University Alumni Association was pleased to host the 2nd Annual Homecoming Festival Mardi Gras Celebration on Saturday, September 29, 2001. During the past three years more than 12,000 York alumni, students, faculty and staff have come back to celebrate Homecoming at York.
The festival was followed by the Homecoming football game, where fans came out to cheer on the York Yeomen. Although the Ottawa Gee-Gees won 39-31, the Yeomen fought hard and put on an impressive effort.
The winner of the trip for two to New Orleans, courtesy of Carlson Wagonlit/Victor Travel, was Julian Kornhaber, whose daughter currently attends York. Congratulations Julian!
The Alumni Association would like to thank everyone who supported this event including our presenting sponsor MBNA and all of our other Homecoming Festival partners. We look forward to seeing you at next year's Homecoming which will take place Saturday, October 5, 2002!
