Past Events: Great Israeli Apartheid Week event on campus Thursday March 10th, 2011! THURSDAY, March 10th: York's Complicity in Apartheid: Art, Culture and CWTP supports Israeli Apartheid Week, here is why! Statement on Israeli Apartheid Week and Michael Coren’s Lecture The Centre for Women and Trans People at York University stands in solidarity with the organizers of Israeli Apartheid Week, their political principles and intentions, and the events taking place from March 7th-11th, 2011. We are in full support of IAW’s work to recognize the rights of Palestinians, to expose the injustices and human rights abuses that occur under Israeli occupation, and to work against the ‘pinkwashing’ of Israel—the use of queer rights to justify the colonization of Palestinians, queer and non-queer alike. Trans / Intersex / 2spirit Health & Culture A non-profit social services organization whose membership consits of Aboriginal gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people in Toronto. A site by Emi Koyama, the activist/author/academic working on intersex, sex workers' rights, (queer) domestic violence, genderqueer, anti-racism, and other issues. A project which aimed to bring trans awareness, and suicide prevention information and support, throughout Canada. Alternative News A national, daily, independent, award-winning news program airing on over 450 stations in North America. A not-for-profit, independent publication committed to comprehensive public education on the question of Palestine, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and the economic, political, legal, and human dimensions of Israel's 39-year occupation of Palestinian territories. A collaborative project of the Canada Haiti Action Network, this grassroots group is united by a determination to raise awareness of what is actually happening in Haiti, and the real effects of the Government of Canada's support for the February 29, 2004 coup d'etat that overthrew Haiti's democratically-elected government. FSRN is an independent broadcast news organization that is owned and managed by news reporters. Since its inception in 2000, FSRN has expanded to over 200 journalists who report from 40 states within the U.S. and 57 countries around the world-including Israel/Palestine, Iraq, Afghanistan, Argentina, Mexico and Nigeria. A grassroots media project to serve struggles for liberty, justice and peace and to provide a way for free radio journalists and cyber-activistst to share radio programs via internet. A collection of articles organized by geographic area and/or issues.
